Working Group #5 (RU#1): ByMuR software and dissemination
TASKS

ACTIVITY

The main activities of Working Group 5 (WG5) will be focused on the development of the multi-risk software for the analysis and visualization of the results carried out in the frame of the ByMuR project. The software will be designed using a modular programming technique, which consist of a separation of concerns philosophy. This will allow to keep separate the development and the management of each single module that could be used again alone or in other software projects. Four single and independent modules will be developed by different WGs: WG2, WG3 and WG4 will provide the modules relative respectively to seismic, volcanic and tsunami hazard assessment, while WG1 will deal with the development of the module relative to vulnerability assessment and risk calculation. In the first phase of the project, WG5 has the responsibility to coordinate the software development of the other WGs, by defining some standard methodologies (i.e input and output data, the use of open source tools). In a second phase, WG5 will develop the main module, which will allow the full management (from the execution to the visualization of results) of all these modules and will provide the multi-risk maps. The ByMuR software will be cross-platform, distributed for free and built using (as much as possible) open-source technologies. Furthermore, WG5 will develop and administer the ByMur web site, which will be used to exchange data and results among partners and to disseminate the main results carried out by the project.
